The history of gastrodat
gastrodat GmbH, an Austrian company based in Salzburg, has undergone an impressive development over the last three decades. The company was founded to support hoteliers in their daily work and to digitalize the hotel industry through innovative software solutions.
In February 2022, an important step in gastrodat’s history took place when Herbert Stegfellner was appointed Managing Director. Stegfellner, an experienced manager in the IT industry, brought with him a wealth of experience in the areas of executive management, partner management, sales operations, global accounts and finance. He had already handled successful company acquisitions in Europe and Asia and successfully managed an IPO.
The expansion through the merger of Lodgit Hotelsoftware GmbH
In June 2022, simplify hospitality expanded further by merging with Lodgit Hotelsoftware GmbH. This step was strategically aligned and enabled a significant expansion of simplify hospitality’s service offering and customer base. Lodgit Hotelsoftware GmbH, an established company based in Leipzig, brought in nine new employees and more than 600 new customers. This represented an important step in strengthening simplify hospitality’s position in Germany.
The merger of Lodgit Hotelsoftware GmbH and gastrodat GmbH was also proof of simplify hospitality’s strategy of investing in its core products and leveraging the synergies between the two companies. This strategic decision enabled simplify hospitality to serve its customers with even more comprehensive solutions from a single source.
The union of simplify hospitality and SiTec GmbH
Another milestone in the history of simplify hospitality was the union with SiTec GmbH. SiTec GmbH is the provider of the award-winning cloud solution “Front Office Cloud”, which offers a unique combination of hotel program, restaurant cash register, marketing tool and employee communication. This solution received the Innovation Award of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and was previously only available to customers of SiTec GmbH in Vienna.
This merger opened up the possibility for simplify hospitality to extend the Front Office Cloud to a broader market, benefiting hoteliers. This cloud solution, unlike many others on the market, actually offers an online-based storage and service with servers in the EU and includes a wide range of features that support hoteliers in their daily work.
Zenina Dedic’s role as Chief Technology Officer
Another important development was the appointment of Zenina Dedic as CTO of simplify hospitality. As a graduate engineer and computer scientist with more than 18 years of experience in the industry, Dedic was already Head of Development at gastrodat and had implemented important strategic goals in the area of hotel software and web applications in a short time, including the new all-in-one solution “gastrodat 2go”. In her new role, she is responsible for product development and research and leads the development departments of the three companies gastrodat, SiTec and Lodgit. Zenina Dedic sees the migration of the Front Office Cloud as a fulfilling challenge and is looking forward to merging and further developing the solutions of the three companies.
The importance of investor Elvaston
A key element in the development of simplify hospitality was the partnership with the investment company Elvaston. The investment group, which specializes in leading providers of enterprise software, pursues the vision of shaping a better future together with its portfolio companies.
The collaboration with Elvaston has helped simplify hospitality to strengthen its strategic direction and develop the company from a mid-sized provider of a property management system to a major player in the market, comprehensively covering the digital needs of hoteliers. Elvaston has been instrumental in simplify hospitality’s successful evolution and supports the company in its future growth plans.
Outlook for the future
simplify hospitality has ambitious plans for the future. These include further investments in development, personnel and products as well as planned acquisitions of other software companies. The goal is to provide comprehensive support for hoteliers in digitization and to bring innovative solutions to the market.
